The
Locanda Cantalupo a traditional restaurant from the Marche region in central
Italy, is situated in the heart of the hills near Macerata, a few kilometers
from Recanati and Loreto.The building dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. Ten years ago it was converted into a wine cellar by degli Azzoni firm with a view to presenting their wines to a wider public. A spacious veranda was added and the country house became in a restaurant. The cooking is based on traditional recipes with local dishes like cargiù. The main course is barbecued meat and tagliata. Another reason to pause at Locanda Cantalupo is to admire the view from Monti Sibilli to Monte Conero and to the sea from the veranda. Fedora and the chef Mimmo manage the restaurant with spontaneity and youthful enthusiasm. On request, guided tours of the degli Azzoni estate and wine tasting with the firm’s enologist and professional sommeliers can be arranged. At the Locanda there are tree double rooms.
